Kitui Resident To Get Ksh 60 Million Police Reward

Kitui residents who led police to the capture of three terror convicts are set to receive the Ksh. 60 Million rewards, once the government finishes its verification process.

Inspector-General of Police Hilary Mutyambai said the rigorous exercise will ensure that the rightful citizen will get the reward for forwarding the information.

"The government plans to follow through on its promise to pay the financial prize. However, this would be subject to rigorous verification to ensure that the incentive goes to qualified applicants," Mutyambai stated.

The security nature of the occurrence, as well as the possibility of harm to individuals who legitimately assisted in the convicts’ capture, may militate against full public revelation of the final monetary award recipients.

The arrest of the suspects, he claimed, was made possible with the help of public informants.

The three had escaped a Kamiti maximum-security prison only to be discovered in Kitui county by locals who had seen the bounty on their heads.
