An ankle injury has forced Kenyan athlete Geoffrey Kamworor to pull out of the Olympics 2021.
The 2019 New York marathon winner had suffered a motorcycle accident earlier in June during his practice.
The injury has cost Kenya a speculated win in the half marathons in which Geoffrey was a specialist.
His manager Valentijn Trouw confirms that these are obstacles that tend to happen when an athlete comes back from a tough injury.
28year old Kamworor had shown great expertise in the national trials at the Kasarani Stadium.
The country had held high hopes as he would have brought the glory home.
However, with the doctor’s report on the pressure in his knee, the country only prays for his recovery.
Rodgers Kemwoi takes on the mantle in reclaiming the country’s title in the 10,000m race.
Kemwoi is the holder of the Commonwealth games bronze title and was the country’s only hope for a win.
