Kang’ata Leads In Murang’a Governor Race At 58pc

A new Trends and Insights For Africa (TIFA) poll has Murang’a Senator Irungu Kang’ata leading the Murang’a Governor’s race with 58%, while his main challenger Jamleck Kamau of Jubilee is polled at 13%.

Wairagu wa Maai and Irungu Nakera received 5% and 3% support, respectively.

The Kenya Kwanza alliance is supported by 60% of Murang’a County residents, according to a poll released on Thursday.

The proportion of undecided voters was found to be 22%, with Azimio la Umoja one Kenya alliance support at 18%.

In terms of presidential candidate popularity, DP Ruto has 62%, Odinga has 18%, Wajackoyah has 4%, and the remaining 16% are undecided.

The survey, which took place between June 25th and 26th, also revealed that the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) is the most popular party in Muranga, with 57% of the vote.

The ruling Jubilee Party was listed in second place with 11%, followed by the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) with 3%, and 28 percent of respondents were said to be undecided.

TIFA discovered that UDA’s Joe Nyutu leads the senatorial race with 42% of the vote, followed by Kembi Gitura with 9% and Hellen Kigia Mwangi with 6%. 37% are still undecided.

According to TIFA, they interviewed 407 registered voters, both male and female.

Betty Maina is almost twice as popular as her nearest rival, with 37% of the vote under Kenya Kwanza. Waithira Kibinda comes in second with 19%.

Waithira Muithirania, a Jubilee candidate, follows with 5%, followed by Rebecca Kinuthia, a Kenya Kwanza candidate, with 4%.

The poll’s margin of error was +/-4.9 percent, based on a sample size of 407 female and male registered voters.

The data was gathered on June 25th and 26th, 2022.
