Nominated Senator Karen Nyamu has issued a statement following claims that her household items are set to be auctioned.
In an update on X on Monday, November 18, the Senator cheekily reacted to the claims and promised to address the matter.
“Do you know why I’m laughing? There’s a colleague who has asked me with concern whether I’m into casino gambling, wondering where my money is going. Be patient, I’ll share [my part of the] story,” she wrote.
Nyamu also maintained that whatever the auctioneer was doing was wrong and that she would be heading to court.
Auctioneers are pursuing the legislator over Ksh 1.25 million in unpaid rent for a property in Runda.
A court order issued by Milimani Senior Magistrate A.H. Nyoike on November 13, 2024, indicated that Nyamu is at risk of having her belongings auctioned to recover the outstanding amount.
The items will be recovered by Fantasy Auctioneers on behalf of the landlord, with the court directing Runda Police Station to provide security for the auctioneers.
“The officer commanding Runda Police Station or any other officer under his command to give assistance for the purpose of maintaining law and order,” the court order read.
