12-Year Old Boy Found Murdered In Maize Plantation

"What is clear is that it was a criminal act...but homicide investigators will be able to look into it further,"

Police in Naivasha, Kenya, are investigating the death of a 12-year-old student whose body was discovered inside a maize plantation close to his former school at Mai Mahiu.

Adan Hassan, the director of criminal investigations (DCI) in Naivasha, stated that investigators have not yet determined what exactly caused the death of the pupil at Karima Primary School.

He said that on Monday, investigators would visit the facility to compile a report.

“We need to know whether he left school, and if so, when. Along with other crucial details, was he with other students?” Mr. Hassan posed.

He further added that some of the investigator’s concerns will be addressed by the teachers of the said school

He did, however, say that they believe the boy was strangled to death.

“What is clear is that it was a criminal act…but homicide investigators will be able to look into it further,” the DCI chief added.

He stated that the body was discovered dumped at the farm on Saturday morning and that the scene was undamaged.

“He could have been murdered elsewhere and his body dumped near his old school.” “What we saw was not a primary scene,” Mr. Hassan explained.

Area chief Zacharia Igeria said the incident has caused unrest in the community and urged police to complete their investigations as soon as possible.

“It’s a major concern, and residents want to know what happened before the incident,” said the administrator.

The body was taken to the Naivasha sub-county hospital mortuary for a postmortem examination.
