Karua Rejects National Dialogue Committee Report

Martha Karua has rejected the report of the National Dialogue Committee (NADCO) released on November 25.

Karua said the report of the committee that was chaired by Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka and National Assembly Majority Leader Kimani Ichung’wah was unacceptable.

Karua in his X account, said that she finds the NADCO report troubling, problematic and unacceptable and that amore detailed statement loading in the coming week.

Earlier on Karua had promised to reject the report if it did not address the high cost of living.

She also said the report must address electoral justice and interference with the independence of political parties.

“Any purported agreement that does not immediately impact on the cost of living, electoral justice and respect for multiparty democracy is a fraud on the people and must be rejected,” she stated.

On Wednesday, Azimio leader Raila Odinga said the report was “imperfect and unfinished”, but ” a good start”.

He expressed reservations about the report for failing to propose tangible ways to reduce the cost of living.

The committee recommended an increase of timelines within which the Supreme Court shall hear and determine a petition challenging the validity of a presidential election from 14 to 21 days.
