According to Narc Kenya leader Martha Karua, Azimio deserves to have the majority position because it is the largest party in the National Assembly.
Speaking on Friday in Machakos during a meeting of Azimio MPs, she said according to the Coalition agreements, Azimio still maintains large numbers and needs to have the benefits of the majority party.
“We are the largest party in Parliament, we, therefore, deserve to have the majority leader and whip position, and all things that go with the majority,’ she said.
She urged the leaders to be united and strong in order to carry out their mandate.
“I would like to adopt Bensouda’s words, you must start strong, in order to deliver.”
Karua challenged them to remain united.
The former Azimio presidential running mate also urged MPs to cooperate with the government, but not in a weak position.
“You need to work together as a team. So yes, you will collaborate, but you must collaborate from a position of strength,” she said.
Raila Odinga and Kalonzo Musyoka, were also present.
Raila echoed Karua’s words, urging the leaders to work together.
“If you do not unite, you are going to be ruled throughout the life of this Parliament and yet we have the numbers and strength to be able to be the rulers in the House,” he said.
