Kasipul MP Charles Ong’ondo fined 15,000 for breaking Covid-19 rules

Hon. Charles Ong’ondo Were, a Member of Parliament from Kasipul has been fined Ksh 15,000 faulting COVID-19 guidelines – By Gerald Gekara.

According to the courts, the legislator pleaded guilty to holding a political rally amid health ministry guidelines.

Videos circulating on social media pictured the member of parliament gathering a crowd at Orende market, Sino and Nyalienga areas within Homa Bay County.

It was then presented before the court that those in attendance had not worn any masks, and failed to observe the social distance.

The Ministry of Health cautioned political leaders against using their positions of influence to flout Covid-19 guidelines.

Earlier this week, Nairobi Senator Johnson Sakaja was arrested at a high end bar in Kilimani, Nairobi past curfew hours.

He was charged with breaking COVID-19 guidelines and fined 15,000 at Milimani Law Courts.
