Katiba Institute to Lead Key Dialogue on Governance at Devolution Conference

Katiba Institute and its partners are set to host a high-level side event on August 13 during the 2025 Devolution Conference in Homa Bay, focusing on the critical role of governance principles in strengthening devolution.

The session, organised in collaboration with Bajeti Hub, Mzalendo Watch and Transparency International Kenya, will explore how transparency, public participation, social accountability and the rule of law are shaping county-level governance and service delivery.

It will also assess how well county institutions have internalised these values and propose practical reforms to deepen their implementation.

Held under the broader theme For People, For Prosperity, the Devolution Conference is an annual gathering of state and non-state actors aimed at evaluating and reimagining devolved governance in Kenya.

The 2025 edition, taking place from August 12 to 15, comes as the country marks twelve years since counties became operational.

“We believe that the promise of devolution will only be fully realised through accountable, inclusive and transparent leadership,” the Institute said in a statement.

The team will also host an exhibition booth at the conference, allowing delegates and members of the public to engage with their research, advocacy and civic education work.
