KCB Foundation and Mastercard Foundation Collaborate with NG-CDF to Equip Youth in Taita Taveta with Vocational Skills

The KCB Foundation, in partnership with the Mastercard Foundation through the 2Jiajiri Program, has joined forces with the National Government Constituency Development Fund of Wundanyi Constituency to empower young people in Taita Taveta County.

This collaborative initiative focuses on equipping youth with technical and vocational skills designed to foster sustainable employment and entrepreneurship opportunities in the region.

The program aims to address the high youth unemployment rates in Taita Taveta by providing practical training in various trades such as carpentry, tailoring, electrical installation, and information technology.

Beneficiaries receive hands-on experience and mentorship, enabling them to acquire market-relevant skills that enhance their employability or capacity to start their own businesses.

Officials from the Wundanyi NG-CDF highlighted that the partnership aligns with the county’s development goals of promoting inclusive economic growth and reducing poverty through youth empowerment.

The fund has allocated resources to support infrastructure and training materials, ensuring that the program’s implementation is effective and sustainable.

The 2Jiajiri Program, which has a proven track record across Kenya, leverages digital platforms to connect trainees with potential employers and markets. This integration of technology enhances the reach and impact of the training, allowing young people in remote areas like Taita Taveta to access opportunities that were previously limited.

Community leaders and beneficiaries have expressed optimism about the initiative, noting that it provides a viable pathway out of unemployment and poverty.

The program also encourages innovation and self-reliance among youth, contributing to the broader national agenda of creating a skilled workforce that can drive Kenya’s economic transformation.
