KCB Bank has donated KSh 2 million towards the upcoming Uzalendo Half Marathon, scheduled for Saturday, July 19, 2025, in Baringo County, as part of a major fundraising push to support education for bright but financially disadvantaged students.
The race will begin at Emining Junction in Mogotio Sub-County and conclude at the Koibatek ATC Grounds in Eldama Ravine.
It is not just a competitive sporting event, but a high-impact community drive aimed at establishing a scholarship endowment fund for students enrolled at Uzalendo School.
Speaking during the sponsorship launch in Nairobi, Rosalind Gichuru, KCB Group Director of Marketing and Communications, said:
“We believe in purpose-driven partnerships. That is why we proudly support the Uzalendo Half Marathon—not just as a sporting event, but as a catalyst for real impact through the Uzalendo School Endowment Fund.”
She emphasized the bank’s commitment to inclusivity and opportunity, highlighting the value of education as a pathway to equity and national development.
Since its establishment in 2016, Uzalendo School has educated over 1,000 students, with more than 340 fully sponsored through the Eldama Ravine Education Foundation (EREF).
The cumulative value of these scholarships now exceeds KSh 50 million.
Organisers say the half marathon also aims to nurture local athletic talent while enhancing community engagement across Baringo and beyond.
Many Uzalendo alumni have since become professionals and change-makers in various sectors of society.
This year’s marathon is expected to attract both elite and amateur runners from across Kenya, with proceeds going directly into the scholarship fund that continues to transform lives in the region.
