Magata Bruce Mackenzie came out on top in the recently completed Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) examination for the year 2021.
Makenzi received 428 out of a possible 500 points in his tests at Gilgil Hills Academy.
Momanyi Ashley Kerubo of Makini School came in second with 427 points, followed by Kwoma Charity Buyanzi of Holy Family Misikhu Girls Primary School with 426 points.
Mbugua Sharon Wairimu from Emmanuel Academy scored 426 marks, tied to Muteti Shantel Ndinda (Kitengela International School), Stanley Otieno Omondi (Rophine Field Junior School), Wekesa Naomi (Whitestar Academy), and Kimani Ethan Karuga (Stepping Stones Preparatory).
Njeru Joel Junior (Nyagwa Primary) scored 425, a tie with Muriuki Victor – PCEA Mwimbi Boarding Primary school.
Despite a reduction in the highest grade from 433, Education Cabinet Secretary George Magoha stated the overall performance increase compared to last year when announcing the results on Monday.
The KCPE exams were taken by a total of 1,225,597 people.
