Ol’Kalou Stadium is set for a major facelift following the intervention of His Excellency Governor (Dr.) Moses N. Badilisha Kiarie and subsequent action by President (Dr.) William Ruto, who has tasked the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) with overseeing the timely completion of the stalled facility.
This follows an inspection by officials from the Ministry of Defence, who toured the site to assess key infrastructure components including running tracks, drainage systems, the parking lot, water storage facilities, and pitch development.
Speaking at the site, County Executive Committee Member for Youth Affairs, Sports and Innovation, Hon. Mungai Kiongo, hailed the collaboration between the two leaders as a game-changer.
“The partnership between Governor Badilisha and President Ruto is a beacon of hope for the youth of Nyandarua. Completion of this stadium will not only elevate local talent but also boost economic activities around the region,” he said.
Hon. Kiongo was accompanied by Chief Officer Edward Kigo and Assistant Director for Sports, Isaac Mungai, who reiterated the county’s commitment to supporting youth programs and sporting infrastructure.
President Ruto, who visited the stadium earlier, emphasized its potential to become a regional hub for talent and unity.
“This facility is more than just concrete and turf; it’s a launching pad for dreams and a unifying force for Nyandarua’s youth,” he noted.
The Ol’Kalou Stadium project is part of a broader initiative to revitalize public sports facilities across Kenya while promoting youth empowerment and community health.
