On Thursday, a Kenya Defense Forces soldier was fatally stabbed while attempting to confront assailants outside a hospital in Likoni, Mombasa County. The soldier, Dennis Wesonga of the Kenya Navy in Mtongwe, was with friends at a private hospital when they got into an argument. The group had been to see a female patient at the facility.
The quarrel prompted hospital security to request that the group leave, but the argument continued outside, eventually escalating into a physical fight. During the fight, Wesonga was stabbed in the stomach. His attackers fled the scene before he was transported to Likoni Hospital, where he died of his injuries.
Authorities have launched a manhunt for the two suspects, who are known to police, and are investigating the cause of the incident.
The soldier’s body has been transferred for further examination, and the police continue to search for the suspects.
