A form three student on Wednesday, May 4, stabbed his counterpart to death in Keben High School of Belgut, Kericho County.
The two are said to have argued before the victim was stabbed multiple times in the left side of her chest shortly before 8 a.m.
Learning had been disrupted at Keben High School after students walked out in protest of their colleague’s death.
Police quickly launched a manhunt for the suspect, who had fled after committing the heinous act, and later arrested and detained her.
“We have arrested the assailant, who is being held at the Sosiot Police Station following the attack and subsequent death of the victim,” said Mr. Ezekiel Kuche Onyango, the Belgut sub-county police commander.
Mr. Onyango also added that the cause of the attack has not been determined, but the matter is being investigated.
The girl was found in a pool of blood and was rushed to Sound Sigowet Sub-County Hospital, where she was pronounced dead on arrival.
According to police, the body was taken to the Kericho County Hospital mortuary.
