Veteran journalist Ken Mijungu has announced his departure from Standard Media Group-owned TV station KTN after four years.
Mijungu made the announcement in an update on social media on Wednesday, February 5, expressing gratitude for his time at the station.
“A good dancer knows when to exit the stage! Four years of absolute adrenaline and nothing but the best—as unpredictable as it was. It’s time to find something else to do while I still can. Forever grateful to God, my colleagues Standard Group, and KTN News. Adios,” he wrote.
Mijungu, who has been a familiar face on KTN, has built a reputation for his sharp reporting and engaging news presentation.
He attended Maseno School for his secondary education from 1998 to 2001 and joined Moi University where he earned a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree.
After completing his law degree in 2007, Mijungu initially worked as a cab driver before making his entry into journalism during the 2007/2008 post-election violence.
He borrowed a camera from his brother to capture the events in Kibera, catching the attention of K24 TV where he was recruited as a reporter.
Mijungu’s media career includes roles at several prominent organizations including K24 TV where he worked for nearly four years, CCTV Africa (now CGTN) where he joined in 2012 as a reporter.
He later served as a senior reporter and anchor at NTV Kenya for seven years, notably hosting the Sidebar show, where he conducted in-depth interviews with prominent figures.
Beyond journalism, Mijungu is an entrepreneur with interests in the transport and aviation sectors.
