Ken Ngondi, a former deputy speaker of the Nairobi County Assembly, has been cleared to compete in the Thursday, September 29, 2022, Speaker election.
On Monday, he delivered his paperwork to the Nairobi Clerk’s office, the returning officer.
Speaking to the media, he claimed that all of his documents complied with the requirements, giving him the go-ahead to run.
“I’ve done my part by encouraging people to vote for me, and now all we have to do is wait for election day and leave the rest to the honorable members,” said Ng’ondi.
In order for any team to obtain the influential speaker’s position, there has been fierce lobbying in the legislature.
Ngondi is relying on his past performance as Nairobi County Assembly deputy speaker from 2013 to 2017.
He was also the chairman of the Public Health Committee and a councilor.
