American rapper Kendrick Lamar leads the 2025 BET Awards with a commanding ten nominations, according to a statement released by BET, the U.S. media giant behind the annual event.
Lamar’s nominations include Album of the Year for GNX, Video of the Year for “Not Like Us,” and multiple Viewer’s Choice and Best Collaboration nods for hits like “Luther” featuring SZA, “Like That” with Future and Metro Boomin, and “30 for 30.” He is also nominated for Best Male Hip Hop Artist and Video Director of the Year alongside Dave Free.
Trailing Lamar with six nominations each are Doechii, Drake, Future, and GloRilla. Metro Boomin follows with five nods, while SZA and The Weeknd each secured four.
Other notable artists receiving three nominations include Arya Starr, Chris Brown, Lil Wayne, Maverick City Music, Playboi Carti, Teddy Swims, and Tyler, The Creator.
BET described the nominees as a celebration of “multifaceted creative expression and Black excellence” across music, television, film, and sports. The selections were made by the BET Voting Academy, comprising experts from music, media, digital marketing, public relations, sports journalism, and the creative arts.
