The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) is accelerating maintenance works along the Kisian–Ugunja Road as part of an effort to eliminate potholes and improve driving conditions along the busy corridor.
According to updates shared by the Authority, pothole patching has been completed on nearly 30 kilometres of the 58-kilometre stretch between Kisian and Ugunja.
In addition, base repairs have been finalized on approximately 10 kilometres, with priming already undertaken in preparation for tarmacking, which is currently ongoing.
The remaining 18-kilometre section, which still has isolated potholes, is undergoing base repairs before crews move to asphalt concrete patching. KeNHA expects these works to be completed within the next two weeks.
The Authority noted that the ongoing repairs are temporary interventions to stabilize the road, pending a full reconstruction and capacity enhancement.
The project is currently undergoing design review to address the aging pavement and increased heavy-goods vehicle traffic along the route.
Motorists using the corridor are urged to exercise caution and follow traffic guidance issued at work sites while repairs continue.
