The Witeithie Foootbridge along the Thika Super Highway is now complete.
Residents will be now be able to cross the 12 lane road via the bridge.
The first beneficiaries are school going children, as school open for the first term of 2020.
The busy highway has been a tough task for area residents to cross, due to the expansive 12 lane superhighway, resulting in numerous pedestrian related accidents.
The Kenya National Highway, the authority in charge of all Class A2 roads, developed a framework to have multiple footbridge to be construction along the 50 Kilometer stretch.
Those who witnessed the hoisting congratulated the authority for considering the plight of other road users, urging KeNHA to erect more structures to aid pedestrians in using the busy highway.
The bridge was constructed by Interways Works Limited.
Another bridge at Mang’u will be erected during the first quarter of 2020.
