The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) is making significant strides in enhancing the country’s road infrastructure with several key projects underway in 2025.
The latest development is the handover of the Illasit-Njukini-Taveta road site to Sinohydro Corporation Ltd for maintenance before the commencement of construction, slated for February 2025.
The 66.5 km road, which stretches from Taveta to Illasit, will be developed under an Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) arrangement and is expected to be completed within 30 months.
The project will feature a 7-meter carriageway accompanied by 1.5-meter shoulders, new bridges, box culverts, improved junctions, and street lighting in major centers.
This vital road is anticipated to boost economic activities in agriculture and tourism, providing a critical link for local communities.
In addition to the Illasit-Njukini-Taveta project, KeNHA is also making considerable progress on other pivotal road projects in 2025.
One such project is the ongoing construction of the 110-kilometer Voi-Taveta Road, which is being upgraded to an all-weather tarmac route.
This road not only enhances transport within the county but also facilitates trade with neighboring Tanzania, attracting various investors to set up businesses in the region.
