The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has issued an important advisory to motorists using the Muthaiga–Kiambu (B32) Road, urging caution and heightened alertness due to ongoing road improvement and rehabilitation works along the corridor.
The notice comes as part of a broader public engagement and safety campaign aimed at ensuring both motorists and construction workers remain safe during the upgrade process.
In its official communication, KeNHA acknowledged the inconvenience caused by temporary disruptions but reassured the public of the long-term benefits that the project will bring, including reduced travel time, improved drainage, and enhanced road safety features.
The works currently underway involve road widening, resurfacing, installation of traffic signage, and drainage improvements key components meant to handle the growing traffic between Nairobi and Kiambu.
“We are working to transform the Muthaiga–Kiambu corridor into a safer and more efficient road, especially given its importance as a commuter and commercial link,” said Eng. David Muchilwa, KeNHA’s Director of Road Asset and Corridor Development. “However, we urge all road users to drive cautiously, obey traffic control signals, and follow directions issued by traffic marshals and signage at the construction sites.”
KeNHA has deployed safety signage and marshals along critical points, especially near construction zones, to guide vehicles safely and minimize risks.
The authority is also working closely with the National Police Service to monitor compliance and manage traffic flow during peak hours.
Motorists are advised to plan their journeys accordingly, consider alternative routes where possible, and remain patient as the authority works toward timely completion of the project.
“The short-term discomfort will give way to a long-term benefit a modern, well-drained, and safer road that will ease movement for thousands of commuters daily,” KeNHA added in its statement.
