KeNHA To Construct Pedestrian Underpass At Haile Selassie Avenue

Commuters using the bustling Haile Selassie Roundabout on Uhuru Highway are set to face disruptions as major road works get underway.

Eng. K. Ndungu, Director General of the Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has announced the construction of a pedestrian underpass at the key section, with works scheduled to commence on Thursday, November 28, 2024.

The project, aimed at improving pedestrian safety and easing traffic flow, will run until Friday, January 17, 2025. Motorists are urged to prepare for delays and adjust their travel plans accordingly.

KeNHA has assured the public that a comprehensive traffic management plan will be in place.

Drivers are advised to follow the temporary road signs and instructions from traffic marshals and police officers on-site to minimize disruptions.

The Haile Selassie Roundabout serves as a critical junction for thousands of motorists daily, linking key parts of the city.

While the construction is expected to cause inconvenience in the short term, authorities promise long-term benefits for both motorists and pedestrians.
