Kenya Airways Diverts Flights Due to Heavy Fog at JKIA

Kenya Airways has announced the diversion of several inbound flights this morning due to poor visibility at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA), Nairobi.

The airline cited dense fog as the reason for the safety-driven decision, which saw some aircraft redirected to Moi International Airport in Mombasa and Kilimanjaro International Airport in Tanzania.

In a statement, the national carrier emphasized that the diversions were made with the safety of passengers and crew as the top priority.

“Due to poor visibility caused by fog this morning, some of our flights scheduled to land at JKIA were diverted. This was a safety measure,” the airline said.

The disruptions have led to expected delays in both departures and arrivals throughout the day, affecting various flight schedules.

Kenya Airways has apologized for the inconvenience caused to travelers and assured affected customers of continued assistance.

Passengers are urged to check their flight status before heading to the airport.

Kenya Airways operates approximately 60 to 70 flights daily, connecting Nairobi’s Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) to various domestic, regional, and international destinations. These include key cities across Africa, Europe, Asia, and the Middle East.
The airline’s extensive network plays a crucial role in facilitating travel and commerce within the region.
