Kenya and Dominican Republic Hold First-Ever Political Consultations

Dr. Mudavadi was received by H.E. Francisco Caraballo, Vice Minister for Bilateral Relations, and H.E. Ambassador Francisco Cantizano, Chief of Protocol.

Kenya and the Dominican Republic have launched their inaugural political consultations, marking a significant step in strengthening bilateral ties between the two nations.

Prime Cabinet Secretary and Cabinet Secretary for Foreign and Diaspora Affairs, Musalia Mudavadi, is currently in Santo Domingo leading the Kenyan delegation in high-level talks with Dominican authorities. The discussions are centred on cooperation in security, health, trade, and investment.

Mudavadi was welcomed by Vice Minister for Bilateral Relations Francisco Caraballo and Chief of Protocol Ambassador Francisco Cantizano. In a statement, he expressed optimism about the talks, saying, “We look forward to constructive engagements aimed at enhancing bilateral relations between our two countries.”

During the visit, Mudavadi is expected to sign a series of Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) covering medical evacuation, repatriation of wounded and deceased persons, and access to Dominican territory for Kenyan personnel participating in the Multinational Security Support Mission (MSS) in Haiti.

The MSS, supported by the United Nations and the United States, includes over 600 Kenyan officers deployed to help restore stability in Haiti, a mission now entering its second year.

Mudavadi is accompanied by National Security Adviser Ambassador Monica Juma, Senator Veronica Maina, and Kenya’s Ambassador to Cuba, Amb. Mwenda Karisa. The consultations signal a growing partnership between Kenya and the Caribbean region, especially in areas of peacekeeping and development cooperation.
