Kenya Blasts Russia For ‘Invading’ Ukraine

During the Security Council’s emergency meeting on Monday, Kenya spoke out against Russia’s undermining of Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. 

Kenya’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Martin Kimani, claimed the country’s diplomatic efforts to assist resolve the war in Ukraine were ignored.

He went on to say that this has harmed Ukraine’s geographical integrity and political independence.

“We do not deny that there may be senous security concems in these regions. But they cannot justity today’s recognition of Donetsk and Luhansk as independent states. Not when there were multiple diplomatic tracks available and underway that had the ability to offer peaceful solutions.” Amb. Kimani remarked.

Kenya also condemned veto countries for continous violation of known UN treaties.

“We further strongly condemn the trend – in the last few decades – of powerful states, including members of this Security Council, breaching International Law with little regard.”
