Kenya Records 17 Infections, As Positivity Rate Hits 1.5%

The Ministry of Health has announced that 17 people, out of a sample size of 1,146, tested positive for COVID-19 in the last 24 hours; translating to a 1.5% positivity rate.

Total confirmed cases are now at 337,639 with 3,823,018 tests having been conducted so far.

The cases were distributed across various counties as follows: Nairobi (12), Kajiado (2), Mandera (2) and Nyeri (1)

Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe said 76 patients have however recovered from the disease; 71 from the Home Based and Isolation Care Program and 5 from various heath facilities.

Total recoveries now stand at 331,491; of which 277,946 are from the Home Based Care and Isolation program, while 53,545 are from health facilities.

No fatalities were recorded in the period under review, as such the cumulative fatalities remain at 5,672.

“There are 57 patients currently admitted in our health facilities, while 419 are under the Home-Based Isolation and Care program. 1 patient are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), all of whom are on ventilatory support,” said CS Kagwe said in a statement to newsrooms.

“Another 13 are in the General Wards and are all on supplemental oxygen. No patient is in the High Dependency Unit (HDU).”
