Kenya, Czech Republic Sign Double Taxation Elimination Agreement

By Michelle Ndaga

Kenya and the Czech Republic have signed a landmark Agreement on the Elimination of Double Taxation, aimed at boosting trade and investment flows between the two nations.

The agreement was signed at the National Treasury Building by Cabinet Secretary for the National Treasury and Economic Planning, Hon. FCPA John Mbadi, and Her Excellency Ms. Nicol Adamcová, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Czech Republic to Kenya.

The signing ceremony was witnessed by a Czech delegation alongside officials from the National Treasury, Ministry of Foreign and Diaspora Affairs, Kenya Revenue Authority, and the Office of the Attorney General.

Speaking during the event, CS Mbadi said the pact marks a significant milestone for the business community by providing clarity and predictability in the taxation of cross-border income.

He noted that the agreement will help curb tax avoidance and evasion linked to improper tax planning, while deepening collaboration between the two countries’ tax administrations.

The accord is expected to encourage greater bilateral investment, strengthen economic ties, and create a more conducive environment for businesses operating across the two jurisdictions.
