Two bandits Arrested As KDF Repulse Attack

Hundreds of bandits ambushed Kenya Defense Forces and police personnel in Kainuk on Wednesday evening and engaged them in a deadly shoot-out.

The armed bandits were, however, repulsed by the security officers.

Rift Valley regional Commissioner Dr Abdi Hassan confirmed the event, revealing that at least two bandits were arrested in Kainuk following the attack.

“Heavy-armed bandits attempted to attack KDF and police officers conducting a security operation in Kainuk, Turkana South, on Wednesday. The robbers, however, were overpowered “said Dr Abdi, who spoke to the press at his Nakuru office.

“As a result of the event, we were able to apprehend two bandits in Turkana, and security forces seized one firearm,” he added.

Tension is still high at Kainuk town near the border of Turkana and West Pokot Counties after residents spotted armed bandits suspected to be on a revenge mission after they were repulsed by KDF and police officers near the bridge.

Locals believe the bandits are regrouping after some of them were killed, wounded, or had their weaponry confiscated during the Wednesday clash with police and military near Kainuk bridge.
