The Kenya Editors Guild (KEG) has named Linda Bach, a veteran journalist and former Standard Group editor, as its new Chief Executive Officer, effective 16 October 2025.
Bach succeeds Rosalia Omungo, who steps down after eight years at the helm. During her tenure, Omungo was credited with strengthening the Guild’s institutional role in defending press freedom and fostering professional development for editors across the country.
In a statement to members, KEG president Zubeidah Kananu paid tribute to Omungo’s “sterling leadership” and wished her success in her next chapter. She welcomed Bach’s appointment, describing her as an “experienced and visionary leader” well placed to steer the organisation into a new era.
Bach’s assumption of office triggers changes within the Guild’s executive council. She vacates her seat as Council Member, Print, with Andy Kagwa of Standard Group stepping into the role. Meanwhile, Millicent Awuor has been appointed chair of the Programmes Committee, a position previously held by Bach.
The Guild, which represents senior editors and media leaders, is expected to benefit from Bach’s deep experience in newsroom leadership and editorial strategy at a time of heightened debate over press freedom, media sustainability, and digital transformation.
