Kenya’s official campaign season begins today, ahead of the August 9 general elections.
During this season, politicians will sell their agendas to the masses.
However, these campaigns had been active despite the IEBC’s strict deadlines.
Raila Odinga, the Azimio presidential candidate, and William Ruto, the Kenya Kwanza presidential candidate, have already begun courting their supporters.
Raila has been promoting his Azimio la Umoja agenda to voters, promising to grow and improve the economy. Ruto, on the other hand, is promoting his Hustler agenda, which aims to change the bottom-up economic model.
The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission ordered its officials and appointed agents to impound or order the impounding of any state resources used in the campaign unlawfully.
The directive would apply to sitting Members of Parliament— Senators, National Assembly members and Woman Representatives— as well as governours, deputy governors, and members of county assembly.
