The August general elections has had Kenyans on the edge of their seats, as the IEBC prepares to deliver the final tally.
This is because the IEBC is implementing a decision to open up the servers for Kenyans to tally their votes. The decision has had Kenyans confused as each media house announced varied leads.
IEBC has provided Form 34As, 34B and 34C on its portals to allow the media, observers and campaign teams to run parallel tallies at the comfort of their centres.
Form 34 is the official document with a tally of votes for the Presidential polls. Form 34A is a tally of the Presidential votes recorded at polling stations.
Form 34B takes the total computation of Form 34As to declare the Presidential results as at the Constituency level.
Once signed, they are physically brought to Bomas of Kenya and handed over to the Presidential Returning Officer.
Cumulatively, there are 290 Constituencies and 1 diaspora. The Presidential tally only becomes official after IEBC chairperson Wafula Chebukati has tallied the original 291 original 34B.
The Media, campaign teams and observers have been counting the 34A posted at polling stations by Presiding Officers. This was made possible due to an agreement with the Media Sector Working Group.
As of 12.48 pm, some 60 Form 34Bs had been uploaded on the IEBC portal.
Once all of the 34B forms have been tallied, the results are entered into Form 34C and the results are announced.
