Diaspora Affairs Principal Secretary Roseline Njogu on Tuesday hosted a high-level delegation from German vocational training organizations Bildungswerk der Bayerischen Wirtschaft (BBW) and Sequa, as Kenya deepens its engagement on labour mobility and skills transfer with Germany.
The meeting, held in Nairobi, served as a fact-finding mission focused on emerging opportunities in the German labour market, particularly in sectors requiring skilled vocational workers.
The BBW delegation was led by Mr. Lucas Sum, Project Manager, while Sequa was represented by Ms. Lea Zeppenfeld, also a Project Manager.
The group was accompanied by Ms. Priya Shah, an external evaluator, as part of a broader assessment of workforce collaboration potential.
“This engagement is critical in shaping pathways for Kenyan talent to access global opportunities, especially in countries like Germany, where there is increasing demand for skilled labour,” said PS Njogu.
BBW is a leading German organisation focused on vocational education, skills development, and lifelong learning, while Sequa specialises in private-sector development, vocational training, and trade facilitation.
Also present during the meeting were
Ambassador Isaiya Kabira, Secretary for Diaspora Investments, Skills, and Entrepreneurship, Ms. Irene Karari, Director for Skills and Expertise, Mr. Ledama Meisashi and Mr. Abdilbasid Hassan, both Foreign Service Officers (FSOs)
The meeting underscored Kenya’s ongoing efforts to align local training with international labour market needs, especially in Europe, where demographic shifts are opening new migration and employment avenues.
The ministry reaffirmed its commitment to structured labor mobility agreements that protect migrant workers’ rights while unlocking economic opportunities for Kenyan professionals abroad.
