A Kenyan delegation visited Bangalore, India’s Centre for Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI), under the direction of Cabinet Secretary for Information, Communications, and the Digital Economy Eliud Owalo.

In order to accelerate digitalization and improve public access, the DPI centre organises India’s cooperation with other nations.

The Kenyan team was able to analyse the digital environments in Kenya and India during the discussion, identifying areas of overlap and emerging trends that could potentially lead to collaboration.

In addition, CS Owalo led a Kenyan group on a benchmarking tour to the offices of India’s Unique Identification Authority, the statutory agency in charge of the country’s digital identification known as AADHAAR, an open-source lifetime biometric-based identity.

Owalo had the opportunity to have in-depth conversations about Kenya’s journey towards adopting best practises for digital identification with the UIDAI team during the meeting, which was headed by Ms. Tanusree Deb Barma, the Deputy Director General (Technology Development).
