After months of restoration by the Kenya Defence Force, the Kenya Meat Commission (KMC) is expected to reopen on Monday.
Monica Juma, Cabinet Secretary at the Ministry of Defence, stated that robust business process systems have been put in place to meet the demands of livestock producers and the general public.
In an effort to revitalize the parastatal, KMC was moved to the Ministry of Defence in September 2020.
According to CS Juma, the strategic direction to the Ministry of Defence was to restructure operations and production with the goal of ensuring the Commission’s existence and profit.

“Over the last couple of months, we have refurbished this strategic installation and set-up robust business process systems to cater for the needs of livestock farmers and the general public. From the beginning we knew that the KMC takeover and revamp was not your usual task,” CS Juma said.
President Uhuru Kenyatta will grace the occasion.
