In a weather update on Tuesday, September 30, the Met Department said the rains are expected in the Highlands of East and West of the Rift Valley and the Lake Victoria Basin.

The heavy downpour is also expected in the Rift Valley and North-western Kenya regions.

The weatherman urged Kenyans living in the 5 regions to stay alert and take necessary precautions.

“Rainfall is expected in some parts of the Highlands, both East and West of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin, the Rift Valley, and North-western Kenya.

“Isolated heavy rainfall events may occur in some of these areas, so stay alert and take necessary precautions,” the weather update read in part.

The Met Department also forecast that the Coastal region may experience occasional rainfall this week.

Further, the weatherman noted that much of northeastern Kenya and parts of the southeast are likely to remain generally dry throughout the week.

“The Coastal region may also experience occasional rainfall during this period. Meanwhile, much of North-eastern Kenya and parts of the South-east are likely to remain generally dry,” the weather forecast added.

In the forecast for September 23 to Monday, September 29, 2025, the Met Department had predicted sunny and dry weather in most parts of the country.

However, the department said occasional rainfall would be experienced in the Highlands East and West of Rift Valley, Lake Victoria Basin, and North-western Kenya.

“Most parts of Kenya will be sunny & dry, but rainfall is expected in the Highlands East and West of Rift Valley, Lake Victoria Basin and North-western Kenya,” the Met Department stated.
