Kenya Met: Seven Regions to Receive Rain This Week

In its weekly review, KMD said Migori County recorded the highest rainfall in seven days at 69 mm. Makueni’s Kikumbulyu Station logged the highest 24-hour rain at 54.7 mm on November 13.

Kenya is expected to see rain in seven regions this week, even though most areas will still be sunny and dry. According to the Kenya Meteorological Department (KMD), rainfall is likely in the Central Highlands, Lake Victoria Basin, Rift Valley, Coast, South East Lowlands, Western, and North Eastern Kenya.

KMD said many parts of the country will have sunny days, but a few regions will get light showers at different times.

In the Highlands West of the Rift Valley, Lake Victoria Basin, and the Rift Valley, residents should expect sunny days and partly cloudy nights, with some morning, afternoon, or night showers in certain areas.

The Highlands East of the Rift Valley will also be mostly sunny, though a few places may get afternoon rain.

In the South Eastern Lowlands and the Coast Region, there may be morning rain plus some afternoon or night showers.

Temperatures will remain high in several areas. Parts of the Coast, North Eastern, North Western, South East Lowlands, and the Rift Valley may experience daytime temperatures above 30°C. Meanwhile, the Central Highlands, Rift Valley, Western Kenya, and areas near Mt. Kilimanjaro will have cold nights below 10°C.

In its weekly review, KMD said Migori County recorded the highest rainfall in seven days at 69 mm. Makueni’s Kikumbulyu Station logged the highest 24-hour rain at 54.7 mm on November 13.

KMD added that most parts of the country received less rain compared to the previous week, except the South Eastern Lowlands and the Coast where rainfall slightly increased. Temperature changes varied, rising in Laikipia, Nakuru, and Kakamega, and dropping in Makindu, Marsabit, and Eldoret.
