Kenya Meteorological Department Warns of Upcoming Weekend Rains

The Kenya Meteorological Department has issued a warning for residents in the Lake Region and Rift Valley, advising them to expect rainfall over the weekend.

According to the Met chief, David Gikungu, rain is anticipated in several areas including the highlands east and west of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria basin, as well as parts of the Coast and Northeastern Kenya.

Gikungu highlighted that Siaya, Kisumu, Homa Bay, Migori, Kisii, Nyamira, and areas in Trans Nzoia, Baringo, Uasin Gishu, Elgeyo-Marakwet, Nandi, Nakuru, Narok, Kericho, Bomet, Kakamega, Vihiga, Bungoma, Busia, and West Pokot Counties are expected to experience the heaviest rainfall. Residents may see rain in the morning, followed by afternoon showers and thunderstorms in some regions.

In Nairobi and the highlands to the east of the Rift Valley, weather conditions will shift to cloudy on Friday before becoming partly cloudy with some rain in mountainous areas. Similar weather patterns are predicted for the Coast and Northern Kenya. Residents are advised to prepare accordingly as these weather changes could impact daily activities.
