Kenya Police FC Eyes Historic CAF Champions League Spot as Fan Discipline Campaign Gains Momentum

By Michelle Ndaga

Kenya Police FC is on the brink of making history as they host Mogadishu City Club in the CAF Champions League preliminary return leg at Nyayo National Stadium on September 28, 2025.

The reigning FKF Premier League champions carry a 3-1 aggregate advantage from the first leg and are targeting their first-ever qualification to the group stage of Africa’s elite club competition. Victory would earn them a clash against Sudanese giants Al-Hilal, further cementing their growing stature in continental football.

Off the pitch, the club and the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) are rallying fans behind the #GameIkoPoaGrao campaign, which emphasizes disciplined and positive support to enhance Kenya’s football image internationally.

The initiative comes in the wake of a first-leg incident in Somalia, where Mogadishu City Club supporters desecrated the Kenyan flag an act that drew widespread condemnation and later an apology from the Somali club.

Police FC officials have called on fans to turn up in large numbers while upholding respect and fair play, underscoring that success on the field must go hand in hand with dignity in the stands.

With the team in fine form and national pride at stake, Sunday’s fixture represents both a footballing milestone and a chance to showcase the growing professionalism of the Kenyan game.
