Kenya Power has announced planned power interruptions in parts of Nairobi and Kirinyaga counties on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, to carry out essential maintenance works.
The company has, over time, said the outages are part of efforts to upgrade infrastructure, replace ageing components, and improve overall system stability.
“Good evening, Please be informed that the following areas are scheduled for planned power maintenance on Tuesday, 11th November 2025,” Kenya Power wrote.
In Nairobi, the affected areas include parts of Langata, with power expected to be off from 9:00 am. to 5:00 pm. Customers in NHC Langata, Southlands Estate, Langata Hospital, Akiba Estate, Civil Servants Langata, Rubia Estate, Uhuru Gardens, and adjacent areas will experience the planned interruptions. Kenya Power advised that power will be restored once maintenance is completed later in the evening.
Parts of Kirinyaga County, specifically Gitwe Primary, Gitwe Kiarura, and Kona Mbaya, will also face power interruptions during the same time frame, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Adjacent customers in these areas are expected to experience outages as the maintenance work is carried out.
Kenya Power maintenance works are part of broader infrastructure upgrades that have been ongoing in Nairobi and other urban centres to support growing electricity demand and reduce cases of voltage fluctuations and transformer failures. The company noted that these interventions are critical to ensure a consistent and reliable electricity supply to homes, businesses, and public facilities.
Businesses and households operating in the affected areas are advised to make alternative arrangements to minimise disruptions. The planned maintenance will be carried out within the same time frame as other regions. Power supply in all affected areas is expected to return once the scheduled maintenance is completed later in the evening.
Kenya Power continues to roll out projects to modernise its network and strengthen the power infrastructure across the country, aiming to provide a stable electricity supply to meet the needs of a growing population and increasing commercial activities. The planned outages on November 11 are part of this ongoing effort to maintain and upgrade the national electricity grid.
