Kenya Reaffirms Commitment to UNFPA Supplies Compact 2023

Kenya’s Principal Secretary for Medical Services, Mr. Harry Kimtai, called a meeting with UNFPA representatives to go over Kenya’s adherence to the UNFPA Supplies Compact, which was signed in 2023.

The purpose of the meeting was to restate the Government of Kenya’s (GoK) commitments under the Compact and to lay out the funding and implementation procedures.

In accordance with the terms of the cooperation agreement, the GoK will match 10% of UNFPA’s financing from the previous fiscal year, with an annual increase of 10%.

In addition, the counterpart funding will be disbursed in accordance with Kenya’s Public Finance Management laws and regulations regarding the reimbursement method.

According to the inked compact, the government will provide KSh.22.5 Million (10% of KSh.225.6 Million) for the budget year 2023/2024 and USD 345,200 (20% of USD 1,726,000) for the fiscal year 2024/2025.

Assuring prompt assistance for UNFPA activities, the GoK has reiterated its pledge to fulfil these financial obligations by June 30.
