
The Ministry of Health has announced that 239 people, out of a sample size of 2,413, tested positive for COVID-19 in the last 24 hours; translating to a 9.9 per cent positivity rate.
Total confirmed cases are now at 336, 292 with 3,787,541 tests having been conducted so far.
The cases were distributed across various counties as follows: Nairobi (98), Bungoma (69), Siaya (16), Uasin Gishu (11)Kiambu (8), Busia (7), Nakuru,Nyamira and Tana River (5), Laikipia and Nyandarua (4), Kajiado and Mombasa (2), Kakamega, Kirinyaga and Machakos counties recorded a single case each.
Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe said 258 patients have however recovered from the disease; 255 from the Home Based and Isolation Care Program while 3 were discharged from various health facilities across the country.
Total recoveries now stand at 328,825; of which 275,471 are from the Home Based Care and Isolation program, while 53,354 are from health facilities.
No fatalities were recorded in the period under review, as such the cumulative fatalities remain at 5,668.
“There are 143 patients currently admitted in our health facilities, while 1,656 are under the Home-Based Isolation and Care program. 3 patients are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), all of whom are on ventilatory support,” said CS Kagwe said in a statement to newsrooms.
“Another 11 are in the General Wards and are all on supplemental oxygen. No patient is in the High Dependency Unit (HDU).”
A total of 16,115 vaccines were dispensed across the country in the last 24 hours while the total number of people fully vaccinated in the same period was 7,404.
