Kenya Records 284 New COVID-19 Cases

On Friday, the Ministry of Health reported 284 new Covid-19 cases from a sample size of 4,540 tested in the previous 24 hours.

The country’s positivity rate is 6.3 percent.

The overall number of confirmed cases in Kenya currently stands at 170,942, based on a total of 1,826,756 tests completed since March.

According to Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe, of the new cases, 272 are Kenyans while 12 are foreigners with 157 being male while 127 females were confirmed to have contracted the virus.

The youngest is a one-month-old infant while the oldest is 91 years.

124 patients have recovered from the disease, 27 from the Home-Based Care Program, while 97 have been discharged from various hospitals.

The total number of recoveries now stands at 117,469 of which 85,291 are from Home Based Care and Isolation while 32,178 are from various health facilities.

17 patients have succumbed to the virus during the same period. The total number of fatalities due to Covid-19 now stands at 3,240.

A total of 1,207 patients are currently admitted in various health facilities across the country while another 4,946 are on Home Based Isolation and Care.

96 patients are in Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 23 are on ventilatory support, and 60 on supplemental oxygen with 13 patients on observation.
