Kenya recorded 566 new Covid-19 cases on Thursday from a sample size of 5,344 tested in the last 24 hours.
The country’s positivity rate is at 10.6%.
The total number of confirmed cases in Kenya now stands at 187,525 from a cumulative test of 2,001,786 conducted since March.
Of the new cases, 546 are Kenyans while 20 are foreigners with 318 being male while 248 females were confirmed to have contracted the virus.
The youngest is a 11-month-old infant while the oldest is 97 years.
1,934 patients have recovered from the disease, 1,693 from the Home-Based Care Program, while 241 have been discharged from various hospitals. The total number of recoveries now stands at 176,456 of which 140,586 are from Home Based Care and Isolation while 35,870 are from various health facilities.
11 patients have succumbed to the virus during the same period. The total number of fatalities due to Covid-19 now stands at 3,716.
A total of 1,136 patients are currently admitted in various health facilities across the country while another 4,825 are on Home Based Isolation and Care.
According to Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe, 116 patients are in Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 30 are on ventilatory support, and 57 on supplemental oxygen with 29 patients on observation.
A further 185 patients are separately on supplementary oxygen with 159 of them being admitted in the general wards. 26 patients are in the High Dependency Unit (HDU).
The Health Ministry has so far vaccinated a total of 1,174,071 persons against the Covid-19 disease countrywide.
On the second dose, 49,406 are aged 58 years and above, Health workers 49,960, Teachers 20,618, Security Officers 13,027 and Others 47,390.
On vaccination, a total of 1,524,555 vaccines have been administered across the country.
Of these, total first doses are 1,024,244 while second doses are 500,311.
The uptake of the second dose among those who received their first dose is at 48.8% with the majority being males at 55% while females are at 45%. Proportion of adults fully vaccinated is 1.92%
The uptake of the second dose by Priority Groups is as follows; Health Workers 96,387, Aged 58 years and above 155,203, Others 140,538, Teachers 68,892 while Security Officers are at 39,291.
