The Health Ministry has confirmed 788 new cases of COVID-19, pushing Kenya’s tally to 19,913 – By Gerald Gekara.
While announcing the tally, Health CAS Dr. Rashid Aman urged Kenyans to excercise caution as Kenya has only 1,200 patients admitted to hospital.
In his new tally, Nairobi leads with (487) new cases, Kiambu (86), Nakuru (34), Kajiado (26), Mombasa (25), Machakos (21), Busia (20), Narok (14), Bomet (9), Kericho, Siaya and Kisumu had (8) cases each, while Uasin Gishu , Baringo, and Nyeri reported (5) cases.
Nyeri had (4) cases, Muranga, and Nandi had (3) cases, Kilifi, Kirinyaga, Meru, and Trans Nzoia had (2), while Homabay, Kitui, Lamu, Kwale, and Makueni reported (1) case each.
The total number of recoveries rose to 8,121 after 100 people recovered from Covid-19 in the last 24 hrs.
However, 14 more people have died from Covid-19 raising Kenya’s fatality to 325.
Health DG, Dr. Patrick Amoth confirmed that 1,275 Kenyans are admitted, out of 19,913 cases reprorted so far. Out of this, 56 have been put in the Intensive Care Unit, while 34 are on ventilator support.
20 of those admitted are on supplimentary oxygen, while 2 are in observation.
However, Dr. Amoth called for greater responsibility among Kenyans. This is after he reported 9 deaths without pre-existing conditions.
