Kenya to Showcase Public Service Innovations at 2025 APSD Celebrations

Kenya is set to host the 2025 Africa Public Service Day (APSD) celebrations from June 10 to 12 at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC), Nairobi, under the theme “Enhancing the Agility and Resilience of Public Institutions to Achieve Equitable Governance and Rapidly Address Historical Service Delivery Gaps.”

Organised by the Ministry of Public Service, Human Capital Development and Special Programmes, the three-day national event will bring together ministries, departments, agencies, and county governments in a public exhibition highlighting transformative innovations in service delivery.

These innovations, ranging from digital platforms to streamlined workflows, aim to tackle historical service gaps and ensure equitable access across the country.

A standout feature of the event will be a national innovation showcase where the most impactful solutions from public institutions will be vetted for possible presentation at the continental APSD celebration in Addis Ababa later this month.

Principal Secretary Dr. Jane Jere Imbunya emphasized that APSD 2025 is not just a celebration, but a platform for visibility, reflection, and strategic alignment with national development goals.

“This year’s observance provides an opportunity for institutions to reflect on inclusion, digital transformation, and equity,” said Dr. Imbunya.

The event will also feature a national symposium bringing together public servants, scholars, and policy experts to deliberate on enhancing institutional agility and citizen-centric reforms.

Discussions will focus on innovation, citizen engagement, and improving transparency and accountability in public service.

Unlike previous years that focused on sector-specific themes, the 2025 edition widens its scope to examine the frameworks that make public institutions resilient and adaptive—ensuring no citizen is left behind.
