Kenya, UAE Enhance Collaborations Through Signing of 5 Agreements on the Side-lines of COP28

    H.E. Dr. Hon. Musalia W. Mudavadi, the Prime Cabinet Secretary and Cabinet Secretary for Foreign and Diaspora Affairs, recently joined senior government officials in Dubai to sign five agreements with the United Arab Emirates (UAE) government.

    This signing event, which took place outside the UN Climate Change Conference, is a major step towards strengthening Kenya-United Arab Emirates cooperation.

    The five agreements were signed by Dr. Mudavadi on behalf of the Kenyan government and H.E. Sheikh Shakhboot Nahyan, Minister of State in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, on behalf of the UAE government.

    These agreements cover various areas of mutual interest, including: Agreement on Mutual Legal Assistance, Agreement on Extradition, Agreement on Transfer of Sentenced Persons, Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation in Food Security, Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation in the Exchange of Financial Intelligence related to Money Laundering, Associated Predicate Offences, and Terrorist Financing.

    The leaders involved have expressed their commitment to further enhance the mutual relationship and explore additional areas of cooperation.

    Notable attendees at the signing ceremony included Attorney General Hon. JB Muturi, CS Public Service Hon. Moses Kuria, and Kenya’s Ambassador to the UAE, H.E Amb. Kariuki.
