The Ministry of Health has launched three landmark reports designed to enhance the quality, accessibility, and readiness of Kenya’s health services as part of the Universal Health Coverage (UHC) agenda.
Cabinet Secretary for Health Hon. Aden Duale presided over the unveiling of the Quality of Care and Human Resources for Health Assessment Report, the Service Availability and Readiness Assessment (SARA) Report, and the Reproductive, Maternal, Newborn, Child and Adolescent Health and Nutrition (RMNCAH+N) Investment Case.

The event, held under the theme “Unveiling Key Findings and Recommendations to Strengthen Healthcare Delivery and Quality of Care in Kenya,” presented data-driven insights to guide policy reforms, address systemic gaps, and inform strategic investments.
CS Duale emphasized that quality healthcare is a constitutional right under Article 43, affirming the government’s commitment to ensuring every Kenyan has access to equitable and people-centred health services.
The reports, developed through collaboration between the government, private sector, faith-based organisations, and development partners, revealed critical gaps, including disparities between technical and non-technical health workers across counties.
The CS noted that these findings will help shape staffing, training, and investment priorities within the health sector. Concerned about rising maternal mortality rates, Duale announced plans to make maternal health a national priority through a life-course approach and the development of a real-time maternity dashboard to monitor and improve quality of care.
The reports align with the Kenya Kwanza Administration’s Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA)and complement the Kenya Health Sector Strategic Plan (2023–2027) and Primary Healthcare Strategic Framework (2021–2030).
CS Duale thanked development partners including the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, UNFPA, UNICEF, Global Fund, and WHO, urging continued collaboration under SDG 17 Partnerships for the Goals to achieve equitable and resilient healthcare for all Kenyans.
