The Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) has issued a three-year suspension to Kenyan road and mountain runner Mark Kangogo for testing positive for illegal substances.
Kangogo’s urine sample on August 13 in Switzerland tested positive for Norandrosterone and Triamcinolone Acetonide, two prohibited chemicals, according to AIU.
Kangogo became the first runner from Africa to win the prestigious Sierre-Zinal trail mountain race in Switzerland in August, which is regarded as one of the toughest trail races of the year.
Prior to today’s ruling, the 33-year-old had received a provisional suspension on Tuesday.
