The Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) announced on Tuesday that Kenyan athletes Daniel Muindi and Judith Jerubet have been banned for doping violations.
Muindi received a three-year ban starting July 10 for using the prohibited substance Norandrosterone, while Jerubet was handed a two-year ban for Triamcinolone acetonide use.
Muindi, 29, was tested in May 2024 after the Lima Marathon in Peru.
The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) laboratory in Rio de Janeiro found Norandrosterone in his urine sample, and Muindi was subsequently notified.
On July 12, 2024, Muindi accepted the AIU’s findings and consequences, including disqualification of results since May 19, 2024, and forfeiture of titles, awards, and prize money.
Jerubet’s case began with a urine sample collected on March 24 before the Bank of China Wuhan Marathon in China.
On April 18, 2024, the WADA-accredited lab in Beijing detected Triamcinolone acetonide in her sample. Jerubet did not respond to requests for a B sample retest.
Consequently, the AIU concluded she had committed an Anti-Doping Rule Violation, though it found no evidence of intentional use.
Jerubet’s two-year ban reflects this assessment.
